A Small Tribute To Our Military…

Jason, Scott and I have been tossing ideas around on how to give back to our military couples for the past few months.  Regardless of branch, military couples make multiple sacrifices- time, distance, and sometimes missing moments of each others lives that just a memory or an image can get him/her through the day.  To those who have their finance or husband in the military, MMP and Scott Bostjancic Photography are teaming up to offer those ladies a free Boudoir session.

Military ladies need not book any other sessions, have held their wedding with MMP, or feel obliged to purchase disks or prints from their sessions.  Boudoir sessions include a one to two hour photo shoot and a one year online password protected gallery through Scott Bostjancic Photography.  Logical verification (i.e. a picture of your military man/ military ID/ etc) and signed photographic contract required.

What does a Boudoir session look like, you may ask?  MMP/SBP believes in classy, fashion inspired photography sessions.  It doesn’t matter what is worn, but the mystery of how its shown in your images.  The key to great boudoir imagery is being comfortable and relaxed in your own skin and remembering these are going to make your man melt!

Those little details…

I try to remember a lot!  So much that I’ll ask Jason, ‘Love Duck (oh yeah.. we’re that cheesy) do you remember…’ and I’ll get those husband-like looks of “Really.. you can remember that.. I can’t remember what socks I wore yesterday!”.  One of my favorite client meetings that I remember was meeting up with Carley and Patrick in Carlisle way back when the planning stages were in full swing for them.  I remember seeing them and thinking ‘WOW that is a dashing couple!’.

Both Carley and Patrick are of natural gorgeousness and amazing personalities that through the lens you can’t get a bad image of these two, individually yes and even more so when they are together!  Carley and Patrick had exchanged vows at the Lodge at Blue Ridge Summit (LOVE that place) on an amazing fall day with the trees on the mountain in full color and the sky a nice crisp gray blue!  Carley wore a stunning back plunging gown and Patrick a tasteful creamy brown tux which both styles carried over into all of their fantastic details of seating charts written on old window panes, place card holders from wine corks, mason jars of candy corn with a chalkboard table numbers, and floating candles in amber colored glass pumpkin vases. Carley, a pastry chef at a prominent restaurant in Philadelphia, also made their own cake to which post smash had informed us that cutting her own creation was very challenging!

The best thing about this wedding, as many of our weddings have been this year, is that beginning to end, it was all about Carley and Patrick.  Every detail was each of them individually and together.  Congratulations to the wonderful couple and many years of happiness and success!

Comic Collection

I’ve talked earlier this year about DIY couples and my amazement of the details- Teresa and Jon created spectacular and unique décor for their comic book reception theme.  I can’t even imagine how long it took these guys to put together all of the details but everything pulled together fantastically!  We also lucked out on a gorgeous early fall day for their outside ceremony at Whispering Pines in Carlisle!  Thanks for the awesome time and congratulations to you both!

Outside the Box!

I’m an avid fan of thinking outside the box… ‘if we put Scott six feet in the air on the ladder that Jason is holding and have him shoot one handed down on the bridal party… how would that look’.  Poor Scott and Jas do seem to be the company guinea pigs for testing new creative measures!  Outside the box… back on track Mel…  Rebecca and Mason are so my kind of people!  They’re hilarious, adorable together, and know how to customize a wedding to say “This is SO Rebecca and Mason!”.

Held at Regents Glen, this was one hell of a party and hands down the best non-traditional ceremony I’ve ever photographed.  Key points, aside from the amazing booth images, were the conversational mustaches, gorgeous first dance, and the ladies “Grapevine” dance.  Towards the end of the evening as I was making my rounds I noticed the dance floor was wet and had pieces of flowers strewn everywhere.  I asked Jas, ‘What happened to the flowers?’… ‘Mason happened!’ … ‘Oh…’  Thanks for such an entertaining time and be sure to call us when you have kids guys!

Calm, Cool, and Collected!

We see a wide variety of emotions on any given wedding day- some are nervous and anxious, however most are calm and just excited!  Mandy and James were definitely calm, cool, and collected all day!  I loved catching the small glimpses and smiles they exchanged through the ceremony to the embraces shared during their first dance.  Some of my favorite posed images all year came from this wedding!  My personal favorite is the “clue style” with the darker lighting and the red floor which appear timeless and classic!

Beautiful Church for a Beautiful Couple!

I love a classic church!  The smell of the old hymnals and Bibles, gorgeous pipe organs and vaulted ceilings… all a plus in my opinion!  Eric and Lakin chose the beautiful Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marietta and held their reception at the 4 Points Sheraton in Harrisburg.  All in all a wonderful event and a fantastic couple!  Thanks for all the laugh’s guys!

Classy Boudoir Sessions

This year we’ve assisted our fabulous partner in crime and photography, Scott Bostjancic, with three boudoir sessions for Hannah, Devanna, and Jessica and in each session these ladies embellished classiness and vibrancy!  At SBP, Scott focuses on fashion and glamor to create stunning work that their husbands are sure to drool over!  Complete with a 4×6 or 5×7 gift book, this has been what our ladies call the perfect gift for the morning of or the evening after their wedding!

Where would we be without Facebook?!

Facebook is such an amazing tool if you think about it.  How often after high school graduation were our parents able to stay connected with friends?  Now you can pretty much unite with friends, teachers, coaches, and lunch ladies… okay that’s beside the point.

Lindsey, one of my 4-H buddies, and I connected up via Facebook a few months ago which she announced her engagement to her super sweet beau, Jarrod!  Lindsey is a little fashionista so gathering creative poses was a breeze and props to both for being so flexible to wander into the murky water of the Susquehanna!  Unfortunately we’re booked for their wedding day but I know they’re going to look stunning and have a very happy marriage!  Congrats to both of you!
