Intimate Thursday Wedding- Kellyn & Blake

I love small weddings.. not just love but LOVE small, intimate weddings.  I also adore back yard weddings and definitely love week day weddings. In case you’re still keeping track of the love list, Kellyn and Blake had a red letter wedding day in my book.

Kellyn contacted me about an intimate wedding planned for their Mechanicsburg home on a Thursday in June- jubilee day to be exact which also happened to fall on the same day the two met years ago.  Thankfully we were a few blocks from the craziness, so no major traffic issues but you could hear the music in the background a bit.

Along with their 7 guests, Daisy, an amazingly gorgeous rescue Pit was in attendance for the boho inspired wedding vibe.  The couple even chose to drive over to their old office… aka where they met.. for some heartfelt images and a coy (see fish pond picture below) party!

Susie and Gary had a completely customized plan for their wedding. Whitney and I met up with the couple at Christ Presbyterian Church, which had the neatest little round worship room for their service.  They had finished up the marriage service with the greatest looks of happiness and for us it’s so great to watch a couple celebrate themselves.

This magical moment was followed up by an intimate gathering at Alfred’s Victorian in Middletown.  If you’ve never been, the food here was superb.  Susie’s dad toasted to their love and to his little girl starting their lives together. Susie and Gary planned a menu that covered all tastes and every bit was delicious. The meal was finished off with a house specialty of an ice cream cake that is beyond words… Ok, I have a few. Picture this..  decadent chocolate ice cream, two different sherbets and thinly sliced cake surrounding it all… Delicious! Alfred’s Victorian itself has so many little pockets of charm that we were able to use many as an advantage to our photos as well.

Finishing up the day we headed out for part three-  the back yard party! Susie and Gary both did a splendid job of decorating and setting the tone for this larger soiree. Friends and family gathered to talk the night away as they dined on a roasted pig stuffed with chickens as music played in the background. The trees were lit and there was the most amazing sight in the back of the yard. Susie and Gary are a couple after my own heart, and stomach. Thank you both for sharing your day with us.

>Lisa & David

>I love meeting new people. I especially love when meeting new people turns into creating a friendship and in terms of wedding photography being able to feel like a part of someone elses family for a day! Lisa and David held their ceremony and reception at the home of family which had created a warm and comfortable celebration! They had also decided to see each other prior to the ceremony which allowed us to create a great photo segment for the both of them which had kept David in suspense until he was able to turn to see his beautiful bride. The emotions ran high for the whole day making this one of our most romantic weddings thus far!

Some of the best things about being able to photograph weddings is being able to see everyone at their absolute best, complete raw joyus emotions, and the blessing of having your closest friends and family able to share in your celebration. One of our personal joys at MMP was the privilage to photograph our Aunt’s wedding held at her daughter’s house in Dover, PA. It was a small intimate ceremony to which despite this not being the first marriage for Carol or Tom, still brought on the raw emotions shared by those going through his/her first or third marriage. Always remember to keep your big day focused to the two of you, never getting caught up in the wrong color of flowers, a stain on your dress, or the song being played. You’ll find that during your celebration, as shown with all of our fantastic events thus far, as soon as you see each other it just doesn’t matter:)
