Jason’s 40th!

Gee golly it’s darn cold out there today!  Days like today make me reminisce to one of my two favorite seasons, Spring and Fall… Fall being my favorite.  This past fall was super special as we celebrated Jason’s 40th birthday (yes, I did get permission to post his age).

First off, to those currently planning a wedding.. I feel your pain.  It’s hard lining up everything needed, continuously thinking about the details and price per person.  Crazy!  To set my mind at ease, while focusing on the business and our one year old, I found the most AMAZING event planner.  Dana McGinley, who you might remember from a few months back when we blogged her wedding, just recently started her business planning both weddings and private events.  She was able to help with every detail and provide an outside perspective on “Will this sledge hammer work well with the decor?”.  Not kidding- totally had a sledge hammer.

Finding vendors was the easy part, as all were our friends and we knew they would do an amazing job.  Decor was largely DIY, with some details reused from our own 2008 wedding and some from old tools and manly items found in Jason’s workshop.  With most of our friends playing some part in the wedding industry, I wanted zero “wedding” appeal in the decor, food, or activities.

Detail wise, we had craft beer samplings from 6 different breweries, a whiskey and cigar bar including fun table games like Cards Against Humanity and Poker, Vintage furniture was brought in from Swoon Vintage Rentals, very tasty cupcakes and heavy hors d’oeuvres, including a bacon and nacho bar, was provided by The Uncommon Caterer, and Ryan Miller Entertainment was kicking out the great tunes all night. Our venue, which was hands down amazing, Historic Acres at Hershey, is highly recommended if planning any sort of celebration.

Overall we had an amazing night and I took pictures of the set up but totally went into relax and enjoy mode and missed any active party shots.  It was one of the best evenings celebrating the man who continues to support every aspiration and dream I have, who will most definitely give me early wrinkles from laughing and smiling so much, and who is the best daddy ever to our little one.  <end sap>

Early Spring Riverdale Manor Wedding- Jocelyn & Brandon

Beauty meets Tech Geek. Tech Geek swoons Beauty. The two marry and have one kick ass party to celebrate!

Jocelyn and Brandon, who met in college, exchanged heartfelt, yet comical vows, at the gorgeous Riverdale Manor, located in Lancaster PA. The couple kicked off their evening with the BEST, best man toast offering pieces of Brandon’s past that will no longer carry over to married life- his favorite girly poster, Skyrim, Halo 4 and his collection of crazy hats. The dance floor was stocked all evening with the couples sorority sisters and frat brothers, to which Jocelyn’s grandmother also broke out a few moves!

All in all a very fun way to kick off the busy 2015 wedding season!  Joy and Love to the newlyweds!

Corinne & Jeff’s Mountain View Reception

snell_0119_mmp-2In the past 6 years we’ve seen a ton of fantastic weddings.  More often than not we’re with our couples the entire day… or well 8 hours of it but we do have a handful of shorter coverage wedding days. I’m not going to lie, it throws me when we have either just the ceremony coverage or just the reception coverage but it’s also quite awesome because it’s different!  It allows us to stay on our toes and really enjoy the day for what it is- a celebration of love!snell_0047_mmp

Corinne and Jeff were actually married a week ago and held their reception celebrations this past weekend at the seriously stunning Peter Allen House.  The PAH (Peter Allen House.. keep up guys) is actually the oldest registered house in Dauphin county and sits at the base of the Peters Mountain and overlooks the stony valley.  snell_0149_mmp-3Receptions at PAH are held on their stone patio or “tennis court” under tents which after dark in November gets very cold!

Corinne stunned in a beautiful white, yet simple gown whi   ch donned some pretty awesome pockets while Jeff rocked out his deep blue suit.  The couple were beyond amazing, especially when asked to huff a bit into the wood area to grab some red berry backdrops for a few of their creatives.  Although the evening brought on some brisk weather, guests had a blast and hit the bar and photo booth often.  Congratulations Corinne & Jeff!  Wishing you both many years of happily wedded bliss!

Sarah & Thomas’ Autumn Country Club Wedding

Smith_0676_MMPDamn! I picked one hell of an amazing wedding to make my first back from maternity leave. First off, I adore Fall and everything that goes with it (except for the pumpkin spice craze… what gives). The weather was simply magical on Sarah and Thomas’ wedding day!  The sun was shining but there was that cool brisk breeze, marking the start of really good fishing weather:)

Sarah and Thomas celebrated their vows at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Mechanicsburg– a beautiful natural light sanctuary with a semi-round pew setting and a nice long aisle from which Sarah’s father led her down.  We had a blast capturing natural emotions as Sarah looked to Thomas with a beaming smile filled with love.

Smith_0838_MMP-EditCouple creatives were captured back at Blue Ridge Country Club which boast stunning views at the base of the Blue Mountain line. Although most leaves hadn’t quite turned yet, we were able to do some creative editing to bring out some fall vibrance.  Back inside guests feasted on a traditional (and OMG tasty) PittsburghSmith_0938_MMP-Edit-Edit style cookie table after dinner.  Seriously every wedding should have a cookie table!  Sarah and Thomas’ night was filled with a kick ass dance floor and some good ol’ Pennstate love including a crazy awesome dance off, passing the viking hat, and tasty dollar dance shots.

Although there were so many amazing moments, the nearest and dearest moment was watching Thomas’s parents give hugs and kisses before he walked down the aisle. Smith_0216_MMP I blame the I-have-a-newborn-and-my-hormones-are-still-awol but it was beyond touching and I may have had a mommy moment tearing up and trying to see through the smudging mascara as the processional started.

Congratulations Sarah and Thomas!  You guys had such a fun event and I know you’ll both keep each other laughing through many years of married bliss!

Andrea & George October 19, 2013

We rarely see rain on a wedding day… which for the love of puppies I hope I’m not jinxing myself for 2014.  When we met up with Andrea and George for their engagement session we had one heck of a rain storm to work around, yet captured some fantastic pictures!  Roll around to wedding day… and it’s spotty rain!  NOOOOOOOO!!  Thankfully George and Andrea are two of the sweetest, most laid back people we had the pleasure of working with this year so a little drizzle didn’t dampen any spirits!

After their magical Catholic wedding, the couple celebrated at the Harrisburg Civic Club off of Front Street in Harrisburg.  The Club boasts rich, dark wood decor with large windows that overlook the Susquehanna River.  One of the cutest moments was watching Andrea get her dancing shoes on for a traditional Indian dance, which filled the dance floor with many guests who may not have known the steps but had a blast figuring them out.  Wishing you both the very best on your marriage!
