Most couples we meet months if not years in advance of their wedding, Mate and Jess.. let’s go for two weeks before their wedding day!  We met Mate & Jessica through former bride and kick ass coordinator, Dana M. McGinley.  With ties to the Hershey community, a Purcell Hall wedding was perfect for these two which featured an amazing, if not the best weather day in July, Duck Donuts, and a beautiful sunset.

Intimate Thursday Wedding- Kellyn & Blake

I love small weddings.. not just love but LOVE small, intimate weddings.  I also adore back yard weddings and definitely love week day weddings. In case you’re still keeping track of the love list, Kellyn and Blake had a red letter wedding day in my book.

Kellyn contacted me about an intimate wedding planned for their Mechanicsburg home on a Thursday in June- jubilee day to be exact which also happened to fall on the same day the two met years ago.  Thankfully we were a few blocks from the craziness, so no major traffic issues but you could hear the music in the background a bit.

Along with their 7 guests, Daisy, an amazingly gorgeous rescue Pit was in attendance for the boho inspired wedding vibe.  The couple even chose to drive over to their old office… aka where they met.. for some heartfelt images and a coy (see fish pond picture below) party!

Yellow & Gray Details at The Bond in York

I mentioned in a previous post about a photographers bucket list for venues.  The Bond in York was not even on my radar but holy potatoes (can you tell we’ve toned down the language with a toddler in the house) it’s pretty awesome and a venue we’re adding to our favorites list!  The raw industrial space brings some serious detail love in the exposed brick wall and stunning chandeliers- a total package for those looking to bring in some DIY love to make it their own as did Kristen & Jeff for their late summer wedding.

Kristen not only is a way back when friend from 4-H and Dover High days, but also an absolutely amazing floral creative.  Her designs are one of the best kept secrets in the central PA area and it’s so exciting watching her business, Blossom Bliss, continue to grow.  Seriously- if you’re in need of flowers for your wedding day, she’s one of the best- call her!

Kristen, being a wedding professional, knew her vision and with the help of her family and friends, designed the most magical space, filled with yellow roses, white hydrangeas, succulents, and many more amazing floral details.  One of my favorite details was the guest globe- truly unique!

The couple also shares a love of running (crazy cardio people) and their gorgeous fur babies, Tuna & Spark, which both made an appearance in their wedding day. Overall such a magical event for a super sweet couple!

Summer Wedding at Hershey Country Club

All photographers have that list- you know.. the one where we say ‘OMG, I really want to shoot here sometime’.  You could say it’s our venue bucket list.  Hershey Country Club was definitely on our venue bucket list and it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience with the hands down amazing team they have there (shout out to coordinator, Amanda C) or a more perfect couple, Amanda & Sean.

We met Amanda and Sean a bit ago for their engagement session at Memorial Lake where they got engaged.  Although a bit warm back then, we had no idea September was going to be the new August this year.  Thankfully, the humidity broke a bit and evening pictures at Hershey Trust and on the course were a breeze.  My favorite moment from the day, and really it is hard choosing just one, was the non-first look, first look- which is when a couple is photographed together but not seeing each other directly.  Sean looked so incredibly nervous and just so excited for the moment when he could actually take in the moment together with Amanda.  Those emotions- Fave!

Farm at Eagles Ridge Wedding- Renae & Ryan

If there was one wedding I was completely and utterly bummed about missing, it was this one!  When discussing details during a planning meeting with Renae I knew their event was going to be epic.. no wait.. EPIC!!

This country loving couple chose to exchange vows under weeping willows at the Farm at Eagles Ridge (which is beyond gorgeous if still on the venue hunt).  Renae wore a beautiful lace styled gown with a pop of dusty pink in her belt while Ryan stunned in his kicked back beige suit and vest.  The couple opted for rustic elegance, incorporating brooch bouquets, burlap and lace into their design theme. One of the sweetest moments of the night was a dance shared by Ryan’s grandmother who was recently diagnosed with cancer and all of her grandchildren- not a dry eye in the house, including Jason’s! 

We wish Ryan and Renae the most amazing and blessed marriage and a lifetime of joy and sharing!

It’s a Pig Pickin’ Ya’ll!

Barbeque, pig roast, deliciously smoked meaty goodness… Now that I have the carnivore’s attention, have you ever heard the phrase “Pig Pickin”?  Why has this not become standard verbiage for those kick ass, meat centered events that everyone loves?

Nicole and Troy, one of our gorgeous couples from the south, celebrated their wedding at Battlefield Bed and Breakfast in Gettysburg, PA.  The B&B sits on a remote piece of property, filled with historical decor including some ‘dress up’ items which looked fabulous on the groomsmen!  Nicole and Troy’s event was much different for me photographically as Whitney was rocking lead female photographer, alongside Jason.  Being 8.5 months pregnant I arrived for the ceremony and left after the first dance, serving more as a second shooter, grabbing candids and spending a few moments with the couple for some creatives.

Through her planning, Nicole emailed often, always full of cheer about details and tidbits which were amazing!  Aside from the traditional southern Pig Pickin’, she planned on an old fashion ice cream bar, complimentary and comfortable bridesmaid dresses, a high energy first dance, and a kicked back fire pit for when the sun went down.  One of my favorite moments from the day was when the rain rolled in at the tail end of Nicole and Troy’s ceremony.  Huge drops were starting to fall, yet these two could have cared less… plus it was a nice cool off to the warm July afternoon.

It’s PBJ Time- Julie & Peter’s Classy Downtown Wedding!

Ah… a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich.. seriously who didn’t grow up on these?  It was the perfect pairing of sweet jam with salty peanut butter.  Cut diagonally on white bread, with cheese puffs… OMG I’m salivating!  Couples have been finding cute acronyms and sayings to sum up their wedding theme for years, but no one has met the ultimate PBJ couple like we have!

Peter and Julie contacted us from California for their super classy downtown Harrisburg wedding, with visions of elegance matched with good old fashion fun!  Through the planning process, Julie emailed often with new ideas and details that were being planned.. basically teasers up to their wedding day!  I was blown away when walking into her Crowne Plaza Hotel suite as she had all of her details laid out perfectly to be photographed.  From the invitations, to rings, to her lucky six-pence.. it was all there!  My favorite detail was her drool-worthy shoes from Pedro Garcia that complimented her gown beautifully!

Post first look, Peter, Julie and their small bridal party got creative with us around the state capitol complex.  One of my favorite creatives captured is a recreation pose from a pick up they pulled off on their engagement session!  Their ceremony concluded to a line of silver streamers and a brief carriage ride to their reception at the Harrisburg Civic Club.  As were her getting ready details, Julie planned every last touch of class to the tiniest detail including PBJ chocolates from Trader Joes, Beautiful white floral arrangements, and multiple versions of Mad Lib cards for guests to fill out and share with the couple.  Julie and Peter even planned a live local band, Cruise Control, for some top class entertainment!  The day was simply magical and will go down as one of those weddings we could photograph over and over again!
