Do This- Lottery Bouquet Toss

Do This is a weekly blog series created to be a super quick read, highlighting awesome wedding ideas that you may want to incorporate into your own event!  Got an idea for our Do This readers?  Email me at mmcclainphoto@gmail.com with your idea!

Tossing the bouquet is an age old tradition (probably started by a wedding vendor to seek out their next clientele) in which the unwed gals make their way in hopes to be the recipient of the gorgeous arrangement and the next to be married.  If you’re in love with the toss but have few single friends, make things a little more interesting by tying on a few lottery tickets or gift cards and invite all the females to the floor for a spectacular photo op and some friendly competition.

Petals are beautiful as they’re dropped from your flower girls’ hand but what about a candy give out?  If your flower girl isn’t shy have her hand out dumdum lollipops or some other form of delicious candy to guests seated near the aisle.  This works great if having more than one flower girl or if their attention span has a chance of wondering away from her, just be sure to stock up her basket as I’m sure a few samples will be had by the little lady!  Special thanks to Taryn and Nick who shared this idea for their State Museum wedding!

Do This- Alternative Reception Entertainment

Before you start thinking adult entertainment in the “bow-chicka-wow-wow” way, this post is strictly G rated as in a great idea (this is why I don’t do caffeine while blogging.. such bad jokes).  Anyway, lately we’ve notice the reception dance floor ranges from jam packed all night to the same 8 people cutting a rug and thought what about other forms of guest entertainment aside from the typical DJ/dance floor combination.  If you’re a playful couple who loves to embrace their inner 8 year old, check out rentals of bounce castles or ball pits.  Not feeling kid like, check out renting casino games, dunk tanks or even bring some of your favorite games from home like cribbage, cards against humanity, or just good old fashion chess.  For bonus points with your guests, rent some comfy lounge furniture for the non-dancers to break away from reception tables.Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 5.38.10 PM

I love a gorgeous bouquet regardless of what it’s made of but I have to highlight this gorgeous masterpiece created by Leah McMaster of Weddings and Blooms in Mechanicsburg, which features kale and an artichoke!  Along with the greens and beautiful succulent, this bouquet is seriously amazing and completely different from the traditional flower alternatives!IMG_1458
